What we call a skimmer, the French call an écumoire. This kitchen tool is used to skim unwanted debris and fat from the surface of bouillon as it simmers. The over-sized proportions and substantial weight of this beautiful piece brings to mind huge boiling pots being stirred and skimmed. The copper rivets overlaying the brass add such lovely warmth. This piece would look beautiful hanging on the wall or from a bar by the top of its curved handle! The back of the center rivet is missing, and there are small scratches on the brass with patina and rusting on the handle. We think it just adds to the charm due to the age of the piece!
